Think you know your way around Google Apps for Education…??
Now you have the chance to prove it through completing the Google Ninja Program.
Jeff Utecht, an authorized Google Education Trainer, developed this free program as a way for students to learn how to use Google Apps for Education in a fun and social way. The self-paced lessons are based on the Google Educator Certification program and are designed for students in grades 6-12. Students are taken through a series of learning modules to help them master Gmail, Drive (Docs, Sheets, Slides, Drawings, Forms), Calendar, Sites, YouTube, Maps, and Google+. Each module ends with a test and gives students the chance to earn digital badges, or their “Ninja belts.” The culminating project requires students to develop a resource for the Ninja Program that will help teach the “future generation of ninjas.” Project submissions are reviewed by a team of Ninja Master’s and if it meets the requirements, students will receive their Ninja Master Certificate.
Sign up is free and easy and students can get started right away working on each module. Below are screenshots from the Ninja Program site with an overview of the units within each module. I’m excited to see BHS students (and hopefully Marshall Simonds Middle School Students) become certified Google Ninja’s! Any teacher who wishes to complete the program may do so also…I just pass my Drive test and earned my Yellow Belt!
